Pet Insurance

Pet insurance reimburses you after the vet bill, rather than paying it for you. The single most important decision is when you enroll, because anything already present is excluded permanently.

  • Accident and illness coverage, with optional wellness add-ons
  • Reimbursement percentage, deductible, and annual cap all adjustable
  • Any licensed vet, no networks

Pet Insurance questions

How does reimbursement work?

You pay the vet, submit the invoice, and the insurer reimburses its share after your deductible, commonly 70, 80, or 90 percent up to an annual limit.

Is it worth it for a young, healthy pet?

That is exactly when it is cheapest and when nothing is yet excluded. Waiting until a problem appears is waiting until that problem is uninsurable.

Can I use my own vet?

Yes. Pet insurance has no networks: any licensed veterinarian is fine, including emergency and specialty practices.

Are there age limits?

Many carriers limit new enrollment for older pets, and some price by age band. Coverage started young generally continues for life.
