Auto Club Membership
An auto club bundles roadside service with travel and retail benefits. Whether it beats a plain roadside plan depends entirely on whether you use the rest of it.
- Roadside service plus travel and retail benefits
- Household membership options
- No insurance claim when you use the service

What a auto club membership policy actually does
-
Roadside service
Towing, jump starts, lockouts, tyre changes, and fuel delivery, on the same basis as a standalone plan.
-
Trip planning and travel benefits
Routing help, and member rates on hotels and car rental on most clubs.
-
Retail and service discounts
Partner discounts at repair shops, restaurants, and retailers, which vary by club and by region.
-
Household coverage
Options that extend benefits to a spouse and dependants under one membership.
-
Trip interruption benefits
Some clubs reimburse lodging and meals when a breakdown strands you a defined distance from home.
-
Vehicle repairs and parts
The service call is included; the repair is not.
-
It is not insurance
No liability, no physical damage, no medical coverage of any kind.
Auto Club Membership questions
How is this different from a roadside plan?
Roadside service is the shared core. The club adds travel and discount benefits, at a higher price. If you will not use those, the plain roadside plan is the better buy.
Does membership follow me or my car?
Generally the member, so benefits apply in any eligible vehicle you are driving or riding in.
Are there call limits?
Yes, a set number of service events per membership year, as with any roadside plan.
Can I add family members?
Most clubs offer household or associate memberships at a reduced rate per person.
This is not an insurance policy
Auto club membership is a membership service, not insurance. It provides the services and discounts described in the membership documents and does not pay claims or provide any insurance coverage.
